Past visits by the Queen to the Alberta Legislature

October 27th, 1951

Their Royal Highnesses Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited Canada on behalf of her father, King George VI, who was in poor health at the time. The Prince and Princess made a stop in Edmonton and visited the Legislature.

July 20-21, 1959
Their Royal Highnesses Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited Edmonton and the Legislature as part of a 45 day tour of Canada.

The Party walked from the Chamber through the Library to the building’s South side balcony and exited by a special staircase that had been erected for descent to an outdoor luncheon on the grounds. The Queen was hosted by Premier Earnest Manning.

July 31, 1978

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, accompanied by their sons Prince Edward and Prince Andrew visited Edmonton on the occasion of the 11th Commonwealth games.

Queen Elizabeth visited the Legislature and was hosted by Premier Peter Lougheed.
