Something for Everyone
Celebrate our country's 148th birthday with a bang! Canada Day at the Legislature is an all-ages event that offers many favourite experiences along with new adventures for Canada Day visitors in 2015. There will be entertainment, exhibits and activities for everyone to enjoy, all taking place at one of the most picturesque areas in our province, the Alberta Legislature Grounds.
Calling all families with early birds: the Legislature Grounds will be bustling with activity from very early in the morning. The Alberta Family Fun Zone, located on the South Grounds, will be up and running at 10 a.m. Kids and their parents can take part in a number of crafts and other fun and educational pursuits while they await musical performances and appearances by their favourite Kids' CBC characters!
At noon, the traditional 21-gun salute will take place on the west side of the Legislature Building and will lead us into the Canada Day welcome ceremony. The Royal Canadian Artillery Band will once again entertain everyone with their signature musical program.
The Alberta Diversity stage on the North Grounds will celebrate the richness of our province's cultural landscape through the music and dance talent of some of Alberta's best performers. Performances begin at 12:30 p.m.
Some of the best singer/ songwriter artists and bands in the country hail from Alberta and you'll find them at the Alberta Discovered stage on Canada Day! Hosted by CBC Radio 3's Grant Lawrence, the music gets under way at 12:40 p.m. and will close out the day's celebrations at 7 p.m.
Once again, Canada Day at the Legislature has partnered with CBC and The Edmonton Journal to bring you one of the largest celebrations in the country! We'd like to thank our partners for their support in ensuring the best quality and family-friendly programming for Canada Day in 2015.Our appreciation also goes out to the Edmonton Safe Parent Association, Edmonton Bicycle Commuters and the Edmonton Celebrate Canada Committee for their participation.
