Legislative Assembly Office: House Services

Louise KamuchikThe responsibilities of the House Services Branch include:

  • The production of the Order Paper, Votes and Proceedings and the Journals
  • Processing items to be placed on notice on the Order Paper such as Bills, Motions, Written Questions, Motions for Returns and Motions Other than Government Motions
  • Providing procedural advice to the Speaker and Members of the Assembly
  • Preparation of detailed scripts for sessional days as well as for ceremonial occasions held in the Chamber
  • Preparation of those documents necessary for the daily business of the House
  • And the maintenance of the Assembly’s records, both current and historical

The House Services branch provides all arrangements for the Assembly’s Standing, Special Standing and Select Special Committee meetings as well as assists with expenses, budgets, historical records, transcripts and a number of other committee issues.

House Services is also responsible for the production of Alberta Hansard, the official transcript of the debates of both the Assembly and its committees. In addition, the audio and video of Assembly proceedings can be accessed through the Assembly website.

Shannon Dean is the Director of House Services and also serves as Senior Parliamentary Counsel.
