Family Fun at the Alberta Legislature 2007 - A Magical Experience
Edmonton—“Each year Alberta’s Legislature celebrates Family Day by offering a variety of entertainment and exhibits for all ages to enjoy, but this year promises to be especially magical,” said Speaker Ken Kowalski.
Catch the free family fun from noon to 4 p.m. on February 19 at the Alberta Legislature and you’ll be on your way to a fantastic Family Day! Magical wagon rides around the vast Legislature grounds, a leisurely skate on the south grounds rink and ice sculptures . . . sound like fun? Wait, there’s more!
Inside the pedway free hot chocolate will be waiting to warm your toes and Kent Wong the Traveling Magician will keep the kids smiling while he pulls a rabbit out of his hat and eagerly transforms balloons into your child’s favourite animal.
Make sure you visit the carnival of magic where a craft table and games are sure to keep those little ones busy and, as everyone knows kids of every age love to play dress up, playing the part of the Speaker or an MLA with the Interpretive Centre’s Mock Legislature education program is a sure bet.
Of course no Family Day at the Legislature would be complete without the ever-popular mascots and wait . . . who’s that over there? It’s Sir Oliver Owl! Be sure to stop by and say hello to our feathered friend the Great Horned Owl from the Alberta Society for the Birds of Prey.
Oh, and to satisfy the adult in you, tours of the majestic Legislature Building will run every 10 minutes between noon and 3:30 p.m. Be sure to check out the “magic spot.”
