Prasad Panda was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the Calgary-Foothills by-election, which was held on September 3, 2015.
He is a member of both the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and Alberta’s Economic Future. He also serves as opposition critic to the Ministry of Energy. Mr. Panda previously served as critic to the Economic Development portfolio.
A professional engineer by trade, he previously worked in the energy sector for over 25 years, during which time he held management positions with numerous private global companies.
Mr. Panda holds a bachelor of technology in mechanical engineering from VRS College of Engineering and Technology.
He is an active member of his community, and his volunteer experience includes serving as president of the Telugu Association of Calgary and as the first vice-president of the India-Canada Association of Calgary.
Born in India, he has called Calgary home for over a decade. He and his family live in the constituency of Calgary-Foothills.
