Blake Pedersen was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Medicine Hat in 2012, and is the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Families and Communities. He also serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Culture, Innovation, and Advanced Education, and sits on the Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing.
Blake was born and raised in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on the family farm. Following graduation from Gull Lake High School, Blake spent some time in Vancouver as a drummer with a country rock band, and later returned to Gull Lake and entered the work force with a local oilfield services supply company.
Blake participated in a 10-month Agricultural Exchange Program to Australia with the International Agricultural Exchange Association, and upon his return to Canada returned to the oilfield services supply industry. Since 1999, Blake has been the co-owner of a successful oilfield services supply company based in Redcliff.
Blake and Angela have called Medicine Hat home since 1996, and have a passion for their community, the arts, travel, and experiencing different cultures.
