Mr. Campbell was elected to his first term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for West Yellowhead on March 3, 2008. In addition to his role as MLA Mr. Campbell serves as caucus whip. He is also a member of the following committees:
- Legislative Offices Committee
- Standing Committee on the Economy (chair)
- Standing Committee on the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund
- Select Special Auditor General Search Committee
During his service, Mr. Campbell has also served as chair of the Select Special Ethics Commissioner Search Committee and as a member of the Chief Electoral Officer Search Committee and the Standing Committee on the Economy.
Mr. Campbell’s varied experience prior to service with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta includes being president of the local United Mine Workers of America and working as an appeals commissioner with the Workers’ Compensation Board. Additionally, he was a key participant in the Cheviot hearings, representing the Hinton and District Chamber of Commerce, Alberta Council for Sustainable Communities and the Environment and the United Mine Workers.
Mr. Campbell was previously a member of the Alberta Labour Relations Board and the Environmental Protection Advisory Committee.
Mr. Campbell lives in Jasper.
