The proceedings of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and its committees are protected by copyright.
As representative of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, the Speaker of the Assembly grants permission to broadcast or otherwise electronically post the proceedings of the Assembly for use in educational institutions and for other purposes, such as private study, research, criticism, review or journalistic fair comment. Broadcasters, including webcasters, may make use of recorded excerpts of the proceedings in news or public affairs programs or websites for the purposes of fair and accurate reports of proceedings.
The following restrictions on use apply:
- Program material may not be used in advertising for political parties during election or by-election campaigns, effective from the issuance of the election writ;
- Program material may not be altered or modified, except for length, or used in any form of undignified association.
- Use or broadcast of these proceedings for commercial purpose of financial gain requires the express written approval of the Speaker.
- The electronic version is for informational purposes only. The printed version of Hansard remains the official version.
Breach of these restrictions may be considered contempt of the Legislative Assembly.
