An afternoon of fun at the Legislature begins with free tours of the Legislature Building for the whole family as well as exhibits and activities in the Interpretive Centre. Children's events include a carnival, a travelling magician and face painting in the pedway. Outside, families can take a horse-drawn wagon ride around the grounds, wander through the ice sculptures or have fun on the skating rink. Afterwards, warm up with free hot chocolate in the pedway.

Seniors' Week
Seniors' "Tour and a Tea"
First week of June
The Alberta Legislature salutes Alberta's senior citizens during Seniors' Week. Special tours are followed by a complimentary fancy tea in the lower rotunda. Participating seniors also receive coupons for the gift shop and can enter their names for prize draws. They may also choose to stay longer to observe session in the afternoon or to enjoy a walk around the grounds. This event requires prebooking. Further information will be posted on this site annually, beginning in April.

In celebration of Canada's birthday, the Alberta Legislature hosts a variety of activities for the whole family.
Visitors will enjoy the annual open house and touring the historic Legislature Building at their leisure. They will also have the rare opportunity to walk on the Chamber floor, an honour usually reserved for Members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. Throughout the afternoon, over 30,000 individuals normally gather on the grounds for the free family entertainment, including musical and dance performance and games for children.

"Celebrate the Season"
Month of December
The annual Celebrate the Season light-up is the kick-off to holiday events at the Alberta Legislature. Festivities begin in the Legislature rotunda with a choir performance, followed by the Premier's ceremonial turning on of the colourful outdoor lights.
Most noon hours and evenings listen to choir performances in the rotunda. In the evening sip free hot chocolate served to visitors in the Legislature rotunda.
