Come Inside for Family Day at the Legislature!

February 2016

We know it’s cold outside, so Family Day at the Legislature has moved indoors for 2016.

A day of free family fun awaits on Monday, February 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All the way from the Edmonton Federal Building through the pedway and up to the fifth floor of the Legislature Building, you’ll find Family Day magic around every corner.

Things to do:

  • Get Lost in the Legislature with our History Hunt.
  • Experience aboriginal games and dance with Amanda Woodward-Lamothe and Friends.
  • Build a replica Legislature Building in the Lego Zone.
  • Meet Rocky the Ram!
  • Enjoy live music and magic performances.
  • Get your Alberta emblem temporary tattoo.
  • Enjoy some tasty treats from our indoor food vendors.
  • Stop by the Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre to experience our theatre-in-the-round, interpretive centre, retail store and the feature exhibit in the Borealis Gallery, Alberta and The Group of Seven.

Thanks to former Premier Don Getty the annual statutory holiday known as Family Day officially came into force on February 19, 1990, and was the first holiday of its kind in Canada. Family Day was introduced as a way to underline family values and encourage Albertans to take time for their families.

Free parking available in the East underground parkade from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Please note: Family Day at the Legislature is a public event. Photographs and videos may be taken.
