Family Day will be a banner day at the Alberta Legislature
Edmonton—As the Alberta Legislative Assembly prepares to mark the 100th anniversary of their first sitting, the focus is on remembering the past, celebrating the present and moving into a promising future.
As people gather on the Legislature grounds this Family Day, they will see an important part of Alberta’s past lining the steps of the south grounds. A series of banners honouring Alberta’s past Premiers and Speakers will be featured on Family Day and will remain on the grounds throughout the Assembly’s centennial year.
“As we look back on the many people and events that have shaped our Legislatures, we can take pride in how far we’ve come and look forward to an exciting future,” said the honourable Ken Kowalski, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
Throughout the year people will have the opportunity to learn about Alberta’s past Premiers and Speakers and on Family Day, wagon rides will take people past this new addition to Alberta’s Legislature Grounds.
