Legislators exchange ideas during Symposium

Edmonton—U.S. state legislators will be visiting Alberta October 16 to 18 as a part of an Energy Symposium hosted by the Legislative Assembly for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).

Following their arrival on the 16th, the delegation will spend a day touring the oil sands in Fort McMurray before returning to Edmonton for a full day of meetings. During these sessions the delegation will explore energy-related topics such as environmental and labour force impacts as well as alternative renewable and non-renewable energy development.

“It is an absolute honour to host this delegation of U.S. state legislators in Alberta,” said Ken Kowalski, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. “This isn’t exactly a job you can go to school for, so any opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow legislators is looked upon as a wonderful learning opportunity.”
