The Select Special Democratic Accountability Committee consists of 12 members of the Legislative Assembly. The committee has been appointed to review matters pertaining to:

  1. Questions surrounding recall and citizens' initiatives, as per Sessional Paper 192/2020;
  2. the Election Act; and
  3. the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act.

The committee must submit its report pertaining to recall and citizens' initiatives within four months after commencing its review, and its report pertaining to its review of the Election Act and Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act, within six months after commencing its review, to the Legislative Assembly, including any recommendations the committee wishes to make.

The Select Special Democratic Accountability Committee is seeking written submissions on FOUR SEPARATE areas of inquiry: Citizens' Initiatives, recall legislation, the Election Act and the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act.

Select Special Committees

The Assembly strikes select special committees for specific purposes. A government motion is moved outlining the membership of the special committee, its terms of reference and other details. When a select special committee releases its report, its work is complete and the committee is disbanded unless otherwise directed by the Assembly.
