The Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing has the following matter referred to it by the Legislative Assembly:
Motion Other than a Government Motion 518, agreed to by the Assembly on June 7, 2021, directed the Committee conduct a review of amendments to the Standing Orders related to interventions (Standing Order 29.1) within one year of the day on which the amendments come into force (October 25, 2021). The Committee must report to the Legislative Assembly on that review, including any recommendations for amendments, within 365 days of the day on which the Committee commences its review.
The Committee completed its review of Standing Order 29.1 (Interventions Rule) on October 3, 2022. The final report was deposited intersessionally on October 3, 2022, as Sessional Paper 193/2022.
Standing committees are permanent committees as established by the Standing Orders. Appointed at the start of each new Legislature, standing committees comprise between nine and 15 Members of the Legislative Assembly and exist for the life of the Legislature although changes in membership may occur.
