An Inspired Way to Teach Parliamentary Democracy
The Alberta Teachers Institute on Parliamentary Democracy brings together teachers to participate in an intensive professional development opportunity. The program provides participants with unique access to the Legislature, where they explore the traditions and roles of Alberta's parliament and enjoy an opportunity to network with fellow educators from across the province.
The next Alberta Teachers Institute on Parliamentary Democracy will take place at the Legislature April 27-28, 2026.
The 2026 Alberta Teacher’s Institute on Parliamentary Democracy will aim to answer the question, “How can people shape their province?” This two-day program will explore historic and contemporary cases of active citizenship, demonstrating how ordinary people can contribute to their communities. Through presentations, questions and discussions, participants will develop strategies to educate and inspire their students.
