Mandate
The Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship is a Legislative Policy Committee with a mandate related to the areas of Affordability and Utilities; Energy and Minerals; Environment and Protected Areas; Forestry and Parks; Indigenous Relations; Municipal Affairs; Transportation and Economic Corridors; and Treasury Board and Finance.
Pursuant to Government Motion 9, agreed to on December 5, 2023, the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship was deemed a special committee for the purpose of reviewing the Personal Information Protection Act. The Committee commenced its review on January 22, 2024, and held its final meeting on December 9, 2024. Its Final Report was intersessionally deposited with the Legislative Assembly on February 21, 2025 (Sessional Deposit 784/2023-25), concluding the Committee’s review of the Act.
Pursuant to the passage of Government Motion 73 on May 13, 2025, the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship has been deemed a special committee of the Assembly for the purpose of reviewing the Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act. In accordance with section 37 of the Act, the Committee must submit its report to the Assembly within one year of commencing its review.
