The Select Special Committee on Electoral Boundaries was established by Government Motion 37, passed by the Assembly on April 21, 2026, to oversee an independent review of the electoral boundaries of Alberta. The Committee is directed to engage independent advisors in accordance with clause C.(d) of Government Motion 37. The Committee may, at the request of and on behalf of the independent advisory panel:

As soon as practicable after receiving the independent advisory panel’s report, which is due to be submitted to the Committee on or before October 22, 2026, the Committee may convene to review the report, including making observations in respect of the report, and on conclusion of its review, if any, must submit the report to the Legislative Assembly no later than November 2, 2026.
The Assembly strikes select special committees for specific purposes. A government motion is moved outlining the membership of the special committee, its terms of reference and other details. When a select special committee releases its report, its work is complete and the committee is disbanded unless otherwise directed by the Assembly.
