Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre

Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature.

The Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre on the main floor of the Edmonton Federal Building will be open to the public on Canada Day.

    Enjoy the film Our People Our Province in the Pehonan Theatre, learn all about active citizenship and the democratic process in the Agora Interpretive Centre and visit Borealis Gallery to see Where are the Children? Healing the Legacy of the Residential Schools, a powerful travelling exhibition by the Legacy of Hope Foundation that explores the history and consequences of the Residential School System in Canada with the goal of contributing to the healing and understanding required for reconciliation.

Welcome Ceremony

Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature.

Canada Day at the Legislature will kick off at noon on the front steps of the Alberta Legislature when the Honourable Nathan Cooper, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, welcomes visitors to the grounds. The ceremony will include the singing of O Canada by Cara Lianne McLeod and remarks by our provincial leaders. It will close with a performance by celebrated three-time world champion hoop dancer and electronic dance music producer Dallas Arcand (DJ KZK).

The Legislature Grounds will be bustling with activity. The Alberta Family Fun Zone, located on the South Grounds, will feature fun and interactive entertainment throughout the day.

The Alberta Diversity stage on the Legislature South Bandshell will celebrate the richness of our province’s cultural landscape through the music and dance talent of some of Alberta’s best performers. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy performances all afternoon.

Some of the best singer-songwriter artists and bands in the country hail from Alberta, and on Canada Day you’ll find them at the Alberta Discovered stage on Capital Plaza! Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy performances well into the evening.
