Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health
On May 5, 2015, Tany Yao was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo, his home since 1977. He was re-elected on April 16, 2019.
On October 24, 2022, Mr. Yao was sworn in as Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health. He also serves as a member of the Standing Committees on Families and Communities, and Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing.
He previously served as a member of the Select Special Committee to Examine Safe Supply, Select Special Committee on Real Property Rights, and the Standing Committees on Families and Communities, and Resource Stewardship.
Before serving with the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Yao dedicated 20 years to emergency response services, filling various roles throughout his lengthy career.
He has volunteered his time supporting various non-profit and charitable organizations.
Mr. Yao was the 899th Member sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
