Prasad Panda was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the Calgary-Foothills by-election on September 3, 2015. He was re-elected on April 16, 2019, as the representative for Calgary-Edgemont.
Mr. Panda is currently a member of the Standing Committees on Legislative Offices, Public Accounts, and Private Bills.
Mr. Panda previously served as Minister of Transportation and Minister of Infrastructure. He was also a member of the Standing Committees on Public Accounts and Alberta’s Economic Future.
He also was the opposition critic to the Ministry of Energy and the Economic Development portfolio.
A professional engineer by trade, he worked in the energy sector for over 25 years, holding management positions with numerous private global companies.
Mr. Panda holds a bachelor of technology in mechanical engineering from VRS College of Engineering and Technology.
He is an active community member. His volunteer experience includes serving as president of the Telugu Association of Calgary and as the first vice-president of the India-Canada Association of Calgary.
Born in India, he has called Calgary home for over a decade.
Mr. Panda was the 904th Member sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
