The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, was elected for the constituency of Calgary-Lougheed in the December 14, 2017, by-election. He was re-elected on April 16, 2019 and subsequently sworn in as Alberta’s 18th Premier, President of Executive Council and Minister of Intergovernmental Relations on April 30, 2019.
Prior to his service with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, he was a Member of Parliament from July 2, 1997, to September 23, 2016. During his more than six terms as an MP he represented the constituencies of Calgary Southeast and Calgary Midnapore.
Throughout his service with Parliament he held several executive portfolios, including Minister of National Defence, Minister of Multiculturalism and Minister of Employment and Social Development.
Kenney began his public life as president of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
He was the 906th Member to be sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
