Minister of Health
The Honourable Jason Copping was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for the constituency of Calgary-Varsity on April 16, 2019. On September 21, 2021, he was sworn in as Minister of Health. He was previously the Minister of Labour and Immigration.
Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, he was a consultant in the fields of human resource management, labour relations and dispute resolution from 2015 to 2019. Previous to this, he spent close to 20 years in management roles with the transportation industry.
A sessional university instructor for over a decade, he has taught at both the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from McGill University, a master of industrial relations degree from Queen’s University and a master of laws degree in labour and employment law from York University.
Active in his community, he served as a member of the Alberta Labour Relations Board from 2016 to 2019 and as co-chair of the Varsity Acres School Council from 2010 to 2014.
He and his wife have three daughters.
He was the 915th Member to be sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
