Minister of Affordability and Utilities
Matthew Jones was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the constituency of Calgary-South East on April 16, 2019.
On October 24, 2022, Mr. Jones was sworn in as Minister of Affordability and Utilities. He previously served as Minister of Children’s Services.
He previously served as the Deputy Chair for the Select Special Child and Youth Advocate Search Committee and the Standing Committee on the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.
Mr. Jones is a CFA Charterholder and holds a bachelor of commerce from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.
Before being elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Mr. Jones worked as an investment banker helping Alberta-based businesses with capital raises, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Jones lives in Calgary with his wife, Tarena, and their four children, Caleb, Kieran, Logan and Isla. His interests include sports, music and technology.
He was the 923rd Member sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
