Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Tourism
Martin Long was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of West Yellowhead, on April 16, 2019.
He is currently a member of the Special Standing Committee on Members’ Services. He was previously a member of the Select Special Public Health Act Review Committee and the Standing Committee on Families and Communities.
Prior to his election as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta Mr. Long worked as an operator for Alberta Newsprint in Whitecourt for nine years.
Originally from Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Mr. Long earned his third-class power engineer certificate in 2015. His community involvement includes serving as board chair for Tennille's Hope Kommunity Kitchen in Whitecourt and as a youth leader with Whitecourt Baptist Church.
He and his wife, Vanessa, have two children. In his free time he enjoys golf, hockey, downhill skiing and working around his acreage.
Mr. Long was the 925th Member to be sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
