Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business
Martin Long was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of West Yellowhead, on April 16, 2019.
On October 24, 2022, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Families and Communities.
Mr. Long previously served as Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Tourism.
He previously served as a member of the Special Standing Committee on Members’ Services, the Select Special Information and Privacy Commissioner Search Committee, the Select Special Public Health Act Review Committee and the following Standing Committees:
- Private Bills and Private Members’ Public Bills
- Legislative Offices
Before being elected a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Mr. Long worked as an operator for Alberta Newsprint in Whitecourt for nine years.
Originally from Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Mr. Long earned his third-class power engineer certificate in 2015. His community involvement includes serving as board chair for Tennille's Hope Kommunity Kitchen in Whitecourt and as a youth leader with Whitecourt Baptist Church.
He and his wife, Vanessa, have two children. In his free time, he enjoys golf, hockey, downhill skiing and working around his acreage.
Mr. Long was the 925th Member sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
