Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services
Jeremy Nixon was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Calgary-Klein on April 16, 2019.
On October 24, 2022, Mr. Nixon was sworn in as Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services. He previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Community and Social Services for Civil Society.
He previously served as Chair of the Select Special Ombudsman and Public Interest Commissioner Search Committee and Select Special Committee to Examine Safe Supply; he was also the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Private Bills and Private Members’ Public Bills.
He also served on the following committees:
- Select Special Child and Youth Advocate Search Committee
- Select Special Democratic Accountability Committee
- Standing Committee on Legislative Offices
- Standing Committee on Private Bills and Private Members’ Public Bills
- Standing Committee on Families and Communities
Mr. Nixon served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Community and Social Services from March 21, 2020 to January 4, 2021.
Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Nixon worked in the non-profit sector for over 15 years. He held leadership roles with organizations including the Mustard Seed, Canadian Mental Health Association and Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary.
Mr. Nixon holds a degree in communications and culture from the University of Calgary.
He is married to Anita and they have four children.
He was the 932nd Member to be sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
