Minister of Finance
Travis Toews was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Grande Prairie-Wapiti on April 16, 2019.
On October 24, 2022, Mr. Toews was sworn in as President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance.
Since 2002, Mr. Toews has been managing director and co-owner of a corporate family cattle ranching operation and an oil field environmental company. He holds a CPA and CMA accounting designation and spent 12 years in a public accounting practice before pursuing business interests.
Mr. Toews served as finance chair for the Alberta Beef Producers and director of the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance. Additionally, he is a past president of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association and co-chaired the Agri-Innovators Committee for then federal agriculture minister Gerry Ritz.
In 2012, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for contributions to Canadian agriculture and trade, presented by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Governor General David Johnston.
A lifelong resident of Alberta, Toews and his wife live in the Grande Prairie region and have three children and ten grandchildren. He enjoys downhill skiing and fly fishing.
He was the 948th Member sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
