EDMONTON – The Honourable Ric McIver was elected May 13, 2025, by his fellow MLAs to serve as the 15th Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

Speaker McIver was elected to his fourth term as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-Hays on May 29, 2023.

He previously served as Minister of Transportation, Minister of Infrastructure and, most recently, Minister of Municipal Affairs. He was also Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour.

Speaker McIver will retain this role for the remainder of the 31st Legislature.
