CELEBRATE CANADA DAY AT THE ALBERTA LEGISLATURE

EDMONTON – The Legislative Assembly of Alberta invites everyone to celebrate Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature Grounds. From noon to 5 p.m. visitors can enjoy free entertainment for the whole family.
The welcome ceremony kicks off the event at noon with the singing of O Canada by Robert Clark, the Edmonton Oilers official anthem singer, followed by a land acknowledgement from Elder Leonard Saddleback and official remarks from provincial leaders and Her Honour the Honourable Salma Lakhani, AOE, BSc, LLD (hon), Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
Main Stage
Headlining the main stage are Calgary indie folk band, Reuben and the Dark. Their diverse sounds have found widespread acclaim in television and movies. They will be joined by Juno-nominated “super group,” Secondhand Dreamcar and the “ultimate party band,” Uptown.
The south stage will feature innovative cultural performances from dance and musical theatre groups such as Al Jabal Dance and Hong De Canada, and the Family Fun Zone stage will feature kid-friendly performances including a hoop dance and magic.

- Pehonan Theatre, featuring the 11-minute film Our People Our Province
- The Democracy Discovery Centre, with interactive new activities
