Deron Bilous was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-Beverly-Clareview on April 23, 2012, and again on May 5, 2015. He was elected to his third term on April 16, 2019.
He is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Alberta’s Economic Future and of the Select Special Ombudsman and Public Interest Commissioner Search Committee.
During his second term, Mr. Bilous served as Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister of Service Alberta.
He previously served as a member of the following Standing Committees of the Legislative Assembly:
- Private Bills
- Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing
- Public Accounts
- Resource Stewardship
Born and raised in Edmonton, in a proud Ukrainian home, Mr. Bilous graduated from the University of Alberta with an education degree in 2001. He taught and mentored students at Edmonton’s Inner City High School and began working in neighbourhood and community development.
Between 1995 and 2005 Mr. Bilous worked in Quebec, Tunisia and China on a number of projects with Canada World Youth, a volunteer youth program that focuses on international development.
Mr. Bilous was the 829th Member to be sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
