Rod Loyola was elected to his third term at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as the Member for the constituency of Edmonton-Ellerslie on May 29, 2023.
He currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Alberta’s Economic Future.
Prior to being elected to the Legislative Assembly, MLA Loyola had been heavily involved with the University of Alberta, first having completed a bachelor of arts in 1999, later becoming employed as an academic program coordinator and student adviser for University of Alberta International. MLA Loyola was then elected President of the Non-Academic Staff Association, the union that represents support staff that work at the University of Alberta.
MLA Loyola’s volunteer and community involvement included serving in various roles for the Knottwood Community League, as well as on the Post-Secondary Education Task Force for Public Interest Alberta, and on the board of Friends of Medicare.
MLA Loyola has lived in Edmonton for over 35 years and proudly serves the vibrant community of Ellerslie.
MLA Loyola was the 856th Member to be sworn into the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
