Garth Rowswell was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Vermilion-Lloydminster-Wainwright for a second consecutive term, on May 29, 2023.
Mr. Rowswell previously served as a member of the Special Standing Committee on Members' Services and the Standing Committee on Alberta’s Economic Future. He was Chair of the Standing Committee on the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund and a member of the Select Special Committee on Real Property Rights, and the Standing Committees on Public Accounts and Alberta’s Economic Future.
Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Rowswell was a financial adviser for over 16 years with Edward Jones Investments. He has an extensive background in agriculture business. He was a partner and majority owner of Valley Fertilizers, a farm supply business, and worked in various management capacities for large companies such as Farms.com, Sherritt Inc. and United Grain Growers.
Mr. Rowswell is actively involved in his community. He has served as a board member and president of various clubs and organizations, including the Vermilion Vipers Swim Club, Vermilion Curling Club, Rotary Club of Lloydminster and the Canadian Association of Agri-Retailers.
Mr. Rowswell obtained a bachelor of science in agriculture from the University of Alberta.
He is married to Luanne, and they have two daughters.
Mr. Rowswell was the 937th Member to be sworn in to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
