Gurtej Singh Brar was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-Ellerslie on June 23, 2025.
Before joining the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Brar worked in media and broadcasting, using his platform to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities. He studied at Ashton College and has long been involved in community advocacy.
He maintains a personal library of over 1,500 books, which he frequently shares with people. He has also been an active community volunteer for many years, serving on the boards of several nonprofits, local initiatives and cultural and media organizations.
Born and raised in Punjab, India, and guided by a strong sense of public service, Mr. Brar is a dedicated family man and a proud father of two.
When not working, he enjoys reading, exploring new technologies, connecting with community members across Edmonton-Ellerslie and spending time in nature, often walking local trails.
He was the 988th Member to be sworn into the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
