The Honourable Marlin Schmidt was re-elected May 29, 2023, for his third term representing the constituency of Edmonton-Gold Bar.
He is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
During his first term Mr. Schmidt served as Minister of Advanced Education.
Prior to serving in the Legislature Schmidt was in site remediation and hydrogeology. From 2008 to 2015 he worked for Alberta Environment as a soil and groundwater contamination specialist.
Mr. Schmidt has a master of science degree in applied environmental geosciences (Eberhard Karls Universität in Tübingen, Germany) and a bachelor of science degree (Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario).
Mr. Schmidt was the 872nd Member to be sworn into the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
