GOVERNMENT MOTIONS

Cabinet Ministers sponsor motions that provide a way for the government to bring a proposal before the Assembly. 

A government motion might propose that the Assembly adopt new procedures, establish or appoint Members to committees, recommend the appointment of Officers of the Legislature, express an opinion on a matter, among other things. Unlike government Bills, government motions are not proposals for laws. Government motions may be called any time government business is under consideration under Orders of the Day.
